The Pine Hunters

Director, Editor

Two intrepid ecologists journey to the loneliest Scots Pine in Britain, to record the last of our ancient wild Caledonian forests.

A short film that forms part of my exploration into our upland landscapes, this film was shot on anamorphic lenses to give a sense of scale to the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. The film has been screened over forty times since its premiere, and lauded for its emotional impact in discussions over landscape and loss. It formed part of my 2025 Royal Geographical Society lecture series, ‘Stories From the Wild Edges.
